Just a few reminders for the week:

1. The microwave is available for all Grade 4-6 students, however students will be limited to 60 seconds. This is just enough time to heat up an item. Please refrain from sending frozen items or items that require more than 60 seconds to heat.

2. Remembrance Day Service is on Wednesday at 10:30am. All families are welcome. We are asking all students to dress respectfully on this day as a sign of respect.

3. Wednesday: Spelling test, scholastic book orders are due, library class (bring back all library books), and popcorn ($0.50/bag).

4. Math Quiz on Wednesday November 9. This quiz is 50 marks and includes writing numbers in expanded form, writing multiplication sentences in short form, double-digit by single-digit multiplication, double-digit by double-digit multiplication, and determining whether statements are sometimes true, always true, or never true.

5. Math Homework (double digit by double digit multiplication) is due back on Monday November 14. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. We have been doing double digit multiplication for a few weeks now, so the students are just developing speed with this.

6. No School on Thursday (Fall Break) and Friday (Remembrance Day).

All students have math homework this week. I have created a 5 page booklet (125 questions) of multiplication questions. THIS BOOKLET IS DUE ON FRIDAY. It shouldn't take too long (probably 10 minutes/page). If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks!

September 23, 2016

Well our first 5 day has come and gone...and we survived!

Today we had an AHS nurse come into our class and talk about our upcoming vaccinations. An envelope of information has gone home today. Please look through it, sign and return it before September 30. Whether or not you are having your child immunized, these forms need to be signed and returned.

Next week, we will have the RCMP Musical ride joining us on Friday September 30. Please return all permission forms ASAP so your child can participate.

Enjoy your weekend!

Welcome!

Welcome to Grade 5!!! I am beyond excited to be teaching Grade 5 this year. The curriculum is some of my absolute favorite!

This year we have 32 students: 10 females and 22 males!!

Every week, students will be selected to write a 'blurb' to add to our blog. This will explain what we are doing and learning, as well as any exciting stories they may have.

To help your child succeed this year, please send a 4GB or 8GB (preferred) USB stick with your child ASAP. This will belong only to your child and you will receive it back at the end of the school year.

Also, I encourage you to assist your child in signing up for a Leduc Public Library card. This will be a huge asset when it comes time for Daily 5 (reading to self and listening to read).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Here's to a GREAT year!

Cheers!

Miss Kruse
